Whats the scoop? Why are they less cost?
Shimano 105 vs Tiagra from everone else with alum frame and carbon fork. Plus v85 has carbon seatpost.
Anything missing? Seem to ride similar?

The just have a good price point.  I have a V55 and it rides great.

Thanks. Edited original question a bit. Think it is purely due to less name recognition?

I think they just have lower overhead. The also have essentially fixed pricing.  Same with Serfas. Maybe they want to establish a nave for "adventure" bikes.  They also make a lot of their own components (bars, seat post, stem hubs.) The wheelset is nothing special either. IIRC you can pick up Novatec Thirtys for $250 a set.

This is why I bought one. I got the 2015 V85 for about 1300 with complete 11 sp 105 including the crankset, and TRP Spyre mechanical disk brakes. At the time no other comparably spec'd bike was near this price. It's been a pretty good bike in the year I've had it. I don't know how they do it, but I do see the price is up on the 2016 models.
