I am putting the finishing touches on mine...I got the one with rim brakes as I am old school.   Looking forward to getting it dusty.  Mike at BMC was great to work with.

Looks good. How do you like it with 650b?
My Black Mountains are a gray version 2 Monster Cross and an orange road. Mike V. designs great frames that are well built and finished.

Yes - I have been riding 650b for about 6 years on various bikes.  I like being able to switch back and forth from 650b to 700c.

Been eyeing these-how would you say it rides and performs?  Is it pretty sporty or more of a tourer?

Ted,

Really curious about any thought process that went into choosing the MCD over mike’s new road+ frames? I currently am running a canti Monstercross from BMC but am very interested in he 650b wheel size.

I realize the question was not directed at me but I had a similar internal dialogue about the MCD with 700c wheels, MCD with 650b’s, and the Road+. I decided that I wanted to be able to go wider than 650b x 47/48 in certain circumstances. As cool as I think the Road+ is, I felt that the MCD might be a bit more. versatile due to the tire options 700 x mid 30’s to 45, maybe 50mm as well as 650b x 2”+. The Road+ can be ran with narrower 700c’s as an option and the 650b x 47/48 being about the max, I believe.

I don’t think there is a bad choice here. It just comes down to what you want to do with it. Mike is very accommodating and I am sure would be willing to share his opinions as well.

Tire clearance is one difference between them.  The bigger difference IMO is that the Road+ features low trail geometry for better front load capability.

Nice,I been checking out BMC bikes for awhile.

Like the shorter seat tube and sloping TT on the latest models.

Maybe a road+ if any become available this year.
