I'm trying to do an economy build up of my Fuji Jari frame and feel that 46/30 chain rings plus an 11-32 cassette ought to work well for my age/weight/fitness. The Velo Orange Grand Cru 50.4 has an attractive price point at $200 but I'm wondering if it's quality is sufficient for my purposes.

Do any of you have direct or indirect experience with the Velo Orange line?  I'd certainly be open to other suggestions for budget priced decent quality cranksets too.

Thanks for any replies.

FSA makes 46/30 cranks that go for a lot less than $200 and Fuji has used the Omega  on the Jari. I'm using the Omega on my Jari with a 10 speed 11-36 cassette and it all works well.

Jeb,

Excellent information! Thanks for the reply. As I understand things, the FSA bottom bracket is not especially well liked by many. What sort of mileage do you have on your Jari's BB?

Not really sure. I put the bike together at the beginning of summer 2018 but I have other bikes that I use too so while I keep track of total miles I don't track distance on individual bikes. There's anal and then there's anal. But I've had no problems with the bottom bracket. Also keep in mind that it hasn't been out in heavy rain.

BTW The FSA Tempo is square taper so you could use a Shimano BB.

Omega 46/30 and appropriate bb are on their way. At the very least it's an inexpensive way to try out the gearing.

Thanks for the helpful advice.
